Senior Connection

Aquatics Program

If you are 60 years or older and have been thinking about exercising, the YWCA Senior Connection program is a great place to start.

The YWCA Olga Madrid community center located at 503 Castroville Road offers an aquatics program for older adults Monday through Friday, 8am -11am. Open swim and aqua aerobics are offered in an indoor heated pool that is open year-round. Benefits include:

  • Gentle on the joints

  • Improvement of heart health

  • Improvement of muscle strength

  • Increased flexibility

  • Reduction of stress levels and mood boosts

  • Reduction of the risk of osteoporosis

71-year-old Gallardo says, “I feel so good when I come swim.”

Newcomer 64-year-old Ms. Juarez has recently found herself having to care for a family member. She enjoys the aquatics program because as she says, “this is my ‘me’ time!” After 20 years on insulin, Ms. Rendon is ecstatic that her doctor has taken her off of it. She contributes her positive health transformation to the water exercise at the YWCA and her fitbit. Join the YWCA aquatics program and see what Mr.Gallardo, Ms. Juarez and Ms. Rendon are talking about!
