Every young person, regardless of individual circumstances, is endowed with innate abilities. It is our responsibility as parents, teachers, mentors, leaders and friends to help youth identify their unique abilities. Without positive reinforcement, these abilities remain unrecognized and unused. However, when coupled with education, job skills and volunteer experience, these abilities become interests and talents and lead to a myriad of future possibilities. Over time, when this transformation occurs, these youth become happy, productive individuals, who have the capacity to be positive role models themselves and to become active participants in the community.
